Basketball Recap: Elyjah Doty Key Part of a Team Effort in Rebels Win

After losing to South Effingham the last time they met, Effingham County decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Effingham County Rebels managed a 62-56 victory over the South Effingham Mustangs on Wednesday.

Effingham County got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Elyjah Doty out in front who posted 15 points and eight rebounds. That's the most boards Doty has posted since back in November of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Lamar Roberts, who went 6 of 12 en route to 13 points and five rebounds.

Despite the loss, South Effingham still got an impressive performance from Chase Seyler, who put up ten points and five boards. Another player making a difference was Marcus Campbell, who scored six points in addition to six rebounds and four steals.

Effingham County's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-14. As for South Effingham, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-16 record this season.

Effingham County will head out to face off against Savannah Country Day at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Effingham County is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.8 points per game this season. South Effingham has already played their next contest (against Glynn Academy), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
