Vero Beach waltzed into their match on Wednesday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against the St. Mary's Lancers. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Indians have posted since March 19th.

Vero Beach got a great performance from Brandon Walker as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 12 over six innings pitched. Those 12 strikeouts gave Walker a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Vero Beach's victory was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Jace Romans, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and one RBI. Romans is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played.

Vero Beach's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 21-1. As for St. Mary's, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-2.

Vero Beach didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 9-4 victory against Dwyer on the 11th. As for St. Mary's, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 4-3 defeat against Eau Gallie on the 10th.
