Preview: Western Branch Bruins vs. Thomas Dale Knights
The Western Branch Bruins will head out on the road to face off against the Thomas Dale Knights at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Western Branch will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Virginia Rankings (they are ranked 101st, while Thomas Dale is ranked 12th).
Last Friday, Western Branch was beaten by Oscar Smith 35-7.
Meanwhile, Thomas Dale put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They put the hurt on Petersburg with a sharp 24-0 win. Thomas Dale might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won five matchups by 20 points or more this season.
Thomas Dale's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Nick Tyree led the charge by rushing for 89 yards and a touchdown on only ten carries. Thomas Dale also got a significant boost from Nj Hines, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 80 yards.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Thomas Dale's defense and their 11 sacks. It was a group effort, with three picking up two apiece.
Western Branch's loss dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Thomas Dale, their win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-0.
