Baseball Game Preview: Astoria/VIT Rebels vs. Rushville-Industry Rockets

The Astoria/VIT Rebels will square off against the Rushville-Industry Rockets at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Astoria/VIT came up short against Havana on Tuesday, falling 10-4. The Rebels haven't had much luck with the Ducks recently, as the team has come up short the last nine times they've met.

Jonah Shaw made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with three RBI, one run, and one double. That double marked the first that he has hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Bobby Welch, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Meanwhile, Rushville-Industry suffered their closest loss since April 22, 2024 on Tuesday. They fell just short of Monmouth United by a score of 8-6.

Bennett Fretueg was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Jackson Spencer was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases.

Rushville-Industry's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-10. As for Astoria/VIT, their loss dropped their record down to 2-19.

Astoria/VIT couldn't quite get it done against Rushville-Industry when the teams last played back in May of 2023 as they fell 10-7. Can the Rebels avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
