Recap: Norristown Eagles vs. Spring-Ford Rams
This season hasn't been kind to The Norristown Eagles, who are still winless after their ninth matchup. They were dealt a 35-6 loss at the hands of Spring-Ford on Friday. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Norristown in their matchups with Spring-Ford: they've now lost seven in a row.
Despite the loss, Norristown still got an impressive performance from Rashon Giddens, who picked up 92 receiving yards and a touchdown. Giddens' longest reception was for an incredible 92 yards.
Spring-Ford's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Matt Zollers, who threw for 226 yards and three touchdowns while completing 71.4% of his passes. The team also got some help courtesy of Jamal Lewis, who gained 99 total yards and a touchdown.
Norristown's loss was their sixth straight at home (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 1-9. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 5.7 points per game. As for Spring-Ford, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-2.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Norristown will play host again and welcome Upper Perkiomen, where Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Upper Perkiomen is coming into the matchup on a six-game losing streak. As for Spring-Ford, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Pope John Paul II at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Pope John Paul II's favor is that they have now posted big point totals in their last seven games.
