Basketball Recap: Interlachen Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Devon Williams and Kemontae Nixon

Interlachen was the 74-71 winner over Bronson when they last played one another back in December of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Interlachen Rams fell to the Bronson Eagles 69-64. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Thursday (58), the Rams still had to take the loss.

Interlachen's loss on Friday came despite strong showings from Kemontae Nixon and Devon Williams. Nixon dropped a double-double on 14 points and 21 rebounds, while Williams posted 24 points and five rebounds. That's the most boards Nixon has posted since back in November of 2024. Another player making a difference was Dante Astin, who earned eight points and ten rebounds.

Even though they lost, Interlachen smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 43 consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

It was another big night for Justice Phillips, who almost dropped a double-double on 41 points and nine boards for Bronson. The game was Phillips' 11th in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Talon Harris, who put up nine points along with seven assists and five boards.

Interlachen's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 9-8. As for Bronson, with the win, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 8-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Interlachen will take on Trenton at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Interlachen is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 61.8 points per game this season. As for Bronson, they will face off against Bell at 8:00 p.m. on Monday.
