Softball Game Preview: South Plantation Paladins vs. Flanagan Falcons

South Plantation is a perfect 4-0 against Flanagan since February of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Paladins will look to defend their home field against the Falcons at 6:30 p.m. South Plantation is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.9 runs per game this season.

South Plantation had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt South Broward on Friday. The Paladins never let the Bulldogs get on the board and left with a 10-0 win. The Paladins haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

The team relied heavily on Victoria Vazquez, who scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. That's the most runs she has posted since back in February. Grace Boehly was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

South Plantation hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in three consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Flanagan was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They came up short against Goleman, falling 18-3. That's two games in a row now that the Falcons have lost by exactly 15 runs.

Flanagan saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lyric Jones, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

South Plantation pushed their record up to 5-10 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Flanagan, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-8.

Everything went South Plantation's way against Flanagan in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, as South Plantation made off with a 21-1 win. Do the Paladins have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Falcons turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
