It was a good run, but Dixie unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell 3-1 to the Hurricane Tigers. If the Flyers were looking for revenge after losing 2-0 to the Tigers when the teams met back in November of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.
Dixie was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Hurricane work for it, especially in the fourth set. The match finished with set scores of 25-16, 22-25, 25-21, 28-26.
Emma Nelson paced Dixie's offense, picking up 16 kills. Nelson got some help from MJ Mauninatu and her 39 assists. Alissa Braegger controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.
Hurricane was led to victory by Eliza Watts and Arianna Hoffman. Watts had 21 digs and two aces, while Hoffman had 12 digs and two aces. Those 21 digs gave Watts a new career-high.
Dixie's defeat dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Hurricane, the win got them back to even at 3-3.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Dixie will host Maple Mountain at 1:45 p.m. on Friday. As for Hurricane, they will welcome Kanab at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
