Softball Recap: Miramonte's Luck Changes for the Better on Thursday

Miramonte hadn't done well against Redwood Christian recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Miramonte Matadors' pitcher stepped up to hand the Redwood Christian Eagles a 5-0 shutout. For the Matadors, this counts as revenge for the 11-7 win the Eagles walked away with the last time they faced one another back in March of 2024.

Redwood Christian's batters probably weren't too happy with Abby Warren, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 17 Ks (she gave up two walks). Those 17 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for Warren.

On the hitting side, Miramonte let Julia Quinn-Ferguson and Talia Hagan run wild. Quinn-Ferguson went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two RBI, while Hagan scored two runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. The dominant performance gave Quinn-Ferguson a new career-high in stolen bases. Avery Haynes also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Miramonte moved to 2-3 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Redwood Christian, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4.

Looking ahead, Miramonte will square off against Dublin at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Dublin is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.5 runs per game this season. As for Redwood Christian, they will challenge Washington at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
