Basketball Game Preview: New Life Camp Storm vs. Southeastern HomeSchool Cardinals

The New Life Camp Storm will square off against the Southeastern HomeSchool Cardinals at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

New Life Camp took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They came out on top against Oak Forest by a score of 80-68. The victory continues a trend for the Storm in their matchups with the Warriors: they've now won three in a row.

Meanwhile, Southeastern HomeSchool waltzed into their game on Friday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They took down the Flight 73-56. Given the Cardinals' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 127th, while the Flight are ranked 479th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

New Life Camp better keep an eye on Blake Batts. He was instrumental in Southeastern HomeSchool's win, going 13-for-26 to rack up 33 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Batts' evening made it seven games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Canon Lang, who went 5-for-9 on his way to 11 points and five boards.

Southeastern HomeSchool smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in December of 2024.

New Life Camp's record now sits at 11-13. As for Southeastern HomeSchool, their record now sits at 24-4.

New Life Camp came up short against Southeastern HomeSchool in their previous matchup two weeks ago, falling 57-50. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Batts, who went 10-for-21 en route to 25 points and eight rebounds. Now that New Life Camp knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
