Basketball Recap: Nakaya Cridge's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Tri over Greenfield-Central

If Tri was feeling good fresh off their 72-4 takedown of Cambridge City Lincoln on Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Titans took a 48-33 bruising from the Greenfield-Central Cougars on Saturday. The matchup marked the Titans' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Tri lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Nakaya Cridge, who almost dropped a double-double with nine points and nine rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia Parham, who posted eight points and seven boards.

Izzy Silcox was her usual excellent self, putting up 22 points along with five rebounds and four steals for Greenfield-Central. That makes it three consecutive games in which Silcox has scored at least a third of the Cougars' points. Another player making a difference was Lexi Kerkhof, who put up 14 points.

Having lost for the first time this season, Tri fell to 5-1. As for Greenfield-Central, they moved to 3-6 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Tri will take on Morristown at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Greenfield-Central, they will head out to challenge New Palestine at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
