Football Game Preview: Hanahan Hawks vs. Newberry Bulldogs

The Hanahan Hawks will venture away from home to square off against the Newberry Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Hanahan comes in on three and Newberry on 11.

Hanahan is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 38-21 victory over Waccamaw.

Hanahan's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Isaiah Snodgrass, who rushed for 163 yards and three scores. The Hawks are undefeated when Snodgrass posts 100 or more rushing yards, but 3-5 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Tripp Gallus, who threw for 133 yards and three TDs while completing 73.3% of his passes.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Hanahan was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 259 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 170 rushing yards in three consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, you can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Newberry's strategy against Aynor on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Bulldogs blew the Blue Jackets out of the water with a 54-14 final score. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won nine matchups by 23 points or more so far this season.

Newberry's victory bumped their record up to 11-0. As for Hanahan, they now have a winning record of 6-5.
