Hillsboro and Greenville are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2016, but not for long. The Hillsboro Hiltoppers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Greenville Comets at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Hillsboro has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last five games.

Hillsboro is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They took their match on Thursday with ease, bagging a 71-44 win over Vandalia. The Hiltoppers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine contests by 22 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Greenville played a tough game on Thursday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were dealt a 60-32 defeat at the hands of Gillespie. While losing is never fun, the Comets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 369th, while the Miners are ranked 162nd).

Greenville's loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 7-18. As for Hillsboro, their victory bumped their record up to 18-9.

Hillsboro couldn't quite finish off Greenville in their previous meeting back in February of 2024 and fell 41-39. Can Hillsboro avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
