Baseball Recap: Freedom Patriots vs. Cheshire Academy Cats
Freedom was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They took a 7-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cheshire Academy Cats.
Freedom got a good showing from Marcus Alf, who tossed two innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit.
At the plate, Hermes Garcia and Blake Echols stepped up to the plate in a big way. Garcia got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one double and one RBI, while Echols scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. The dominant performance gave Echols a new career-high in runs. Joel Santiago was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Freedom's defeat dropped their record down to 4-9. As for Cheshire Academy, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 3-0.
Coming up, Freedom will face off against Innovation at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Innovation is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.1 runs per game this season. As for Cheshire Academy, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next match, an 8-3 victory against North Florida Christian on the 11th.
