Tyler lost against Highland Park back in September of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Lions took a 70-66 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Scots. On the bright side, the 66- point effort marked the Lions' highest-scoring matchup to date.

Several Lions players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Cadarius McMiller, who rushed for 151 yards and three touchdowns on only 13 carries. Another passer making a difference was Caden J Granberry, who threw for 323 yards and three TDs.

Even if they lost, Tyler's defensive line still kept up the pressure with three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: James Collier, Julio Rojo, and Daniel Bush, who each picked up one sack apiece. Braylen Ford was another major factor on D, making six total tackles (1.0 for loss) and snagged two interceptions.

This is the second loss in a row for Tyler and nudges their season record down to 1-4. Those defeats can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 43.5 points over those games. As for Highland Park, their win bumped their record up to 4-1.

Tyler has already played their next contest, a 17-16 victory against Joshua on the 3rd. As for Highland Park, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 52-35 win against Red Oak on the 3rd.
