Basketball Game Preview: East Wilkes Cardinals vs. Mount Airy Granite Bears

East Wilkes is 2-7 against Mount Airy since December of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. Having just played yesterday, the East Wilkes Cardinals will head out on the road to face off against the Mount Airy Granite Bears at 5:30 p.m. East Wilkes knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past ten games -- so hopefully Mount Airy likes a good challenge.

If East Wilkes beats Mount Airy with 81 points on Tuesday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two contests with that exact score. East Wilkes strolled past Starmount with points to spare on Monday, taking the game 81-63. The win continues a trend for the Cardinals in their matchups with the Rams: they've now won four in a row.

Meanwhile, Mount Airy posted their closest victory since December 11, 2024 on Monday. They skirted past Alleghany 42-40. Winning may never get old, but the Granite Bears sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

East Wilkes pushed their record up to 15-8 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.0 points over those games. As for Mount Airy, they now have a winning record of 12-11.

East Wilkes came out on top in a nail-biter against Mount Airy when the teams last played back in January, sneaking past 58-56. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Mount Airy's Taeshon Martin, who almost dropped a double-double with 17 points and nine rebounds.
