McCutcheon and Kokomo are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2017, but not for long. The McCutcheon Mavericks will challenge the Kokomo Wildkats at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. McCutcheon knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past four matches -- so hopefully Kokomo likes a good challenge.

McCutcheon is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Lake Central just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Friday. They took a 67-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Indians.

Meanwhile, Kokomo earned a 65-53 win over Huntington North on Friday. The Wildkats haven't had any issues with the Vikings recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Kokomo's win came from a few key players McCutcheon will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Zion Bellamy, who went 7-for-13 en route to 18 points in addition to five assists and three steals. His big performance that evening made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of D.J. Nash, who almost dropped a double-double with 14 points and nine boards.

Kokomo was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. They are 16-4 when they've passed the ball that well.

McCutcheon's defeat dropped their record down to 13-8. As for Kokomo, their win bumped their record up to 16-7.

McCutcheon ended up a good deal behind Kokomo when the teams last played back in December of 2024, losing 84-67. Can McCutcheon avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
