Football Recap: Winfield Piles Up the Points Against Ripley

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Winfield). They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat the Ripley Vikings 58-21. That's more bragging rights for the Generals, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Winfield was led to victory by Jared Miller and Gannon Boggs. Miller rushed for 108 yards and one touchdown on only eight carries, while Boggs rushed for 178 yards and a pair of scores while picking up 9.9 yards per carry. The Generals are undefeated when Boggs posts 80 or more rushing yards, but 1-2 otherwise. Aiden Tate was another key player, picking up 44 receiving yards and two TDs.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Winfield was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 351 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

When it comes to explaining why Ripley lost, don't look at Cody Lawrence. Despite the final result, he rushed for 163 yards and one touchdown while picking up 7.1 yards per carry. Kyler Fisher also helped out with an impressive 83 receiving yards.

Winfield has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-2 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 41.0 points over those games. As for Ripley, they now have a losing record of 3-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Winfield will challenge Shady Spring at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Ripley, they will face off against Herbert Hoover at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Vikings will need to watch out since the Huskies have now posted at least 31 points in their last three games.
