Softball Recap: Chandler Triumphs

While Chandler's win against Casteel wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Wolves skirted past the Colts 11-9. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Wolves have posted since April 3, 2024.

Chandler let Maryn Schaffer and Lily Kolsrud run wild. Schaffer scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-5, while Kolsrud scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave Schaffer a new career-high in doubles (two). Another player making a difference was Cian Noli, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with two RBI and one double.

They weren't the only one making solid contact: Chandler kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are 10-2 when they post 11 or more hits.

The win made it two in a row for Chandler and bumps their season record up to 10-13. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.0 runs over those games. As for Casteel, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-14 record this season.

Chandler will have a chance to go back-to-back against Casteel: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday.
