Softball Recap: Masconomet Regional Takes a Loss

Masconomet Regional made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Peabody Veterans Memorial, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Chieftains fell just short of the Tanners by a score of 7-5 on Friday. The Chieftains have struggled against the Tanners recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost meeting.

Angie Vecchio made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Sabrina Caferelli was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one run and one double.

Masconomet Regional's loss dropped their record down to 5-7. As for Peabody Veterans Memorial, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-6.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Masconomet Regional will welcome Wilmington at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Peabody Veterans Memorial, they will host Marblehead at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
