Basketball Recap: Central Valley Academy Thunder vs. Vernon-Verona-Sherrill Red Devils
The Central Valley Academy Thunder entered their tilt with the Vernon-Verona-Sherrill Red Devils with 11 consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with 12. Central Valley Academy really took it to the Red Devils for the full four quarters, racking up a 71-29 win at home. Central Valley Academy has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine matchups by 20 points or more this season.
Deacon Judd continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 21 points along with six rebounds and four steals. Judd is crushing the point category: he's posted at least 20 every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Will Luke, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds.
Despite the loss, Vernon-Verona-Sherrill still got an impressive performance from Atticus Roque, who scored six points along with ten rebounds and two blocks.
Central Valley Academy pushed their record up to 14-1 with that victory, which was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.4 points per game. As for Vernon-Verona-Sherrill, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-12.
Central Valley Academy will head out on the road to square off against the Black Knights at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in New York (Rome Free Academy is ranked 31st, while the Thunder are ranked 34th). As for Vernon-Verona-Sherrill, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Jugglers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Notre Dame is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
