Basketball Recap: 19 Straight Home Victories for Northside

Northside had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 24.8 points) and they went ahead and made it six on Monday. They claimed a resounding 64-29 win over the Southside Mavericks. The Grizzlies have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 matchups by 20 points or more this season.

Northside had a senior duo take command as Erianna Gooden dropped a double-double with 21 points and ten rebounds and Hazley Grotjohn went 5-for-11 on her way to 13 points in addition to six boards and four steals. Grotjohn is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last five games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Erikka Gooden, who posted six points.

Northside pushed their record up to 22-4 with the victory, which was their 19th straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.4 points over those games. As for Southside, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4.

Looking ahead, Northside will head out on the road to challenge Rogers Heritage at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Northside is facing Rogers Heritage at the right time seeing as Rogers Heritage is stuck on a 17-game losing streak. Southside does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
