Softball Game Preview: Zane Trace Pioneers vs. Chillicothe Cavaliers

The Zane Trace Pioneers will take on the Chillicothe Cavaliers at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Zane Trace is leaving town to face Chillicothe after disappointing their home crowd in their season opener. Zane Trace lost 16-5 to Eastern on Monday.

Haylynn Boggess-Pierce made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3. Laynie Scott was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

Meanwhile, Chillicothe had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They came out on top against Jonathan Alder by a score of 6-3 on Saturday.

CAMBRIANA RITTINGER made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off seven hits. RITTINGER was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.

In other batting news, CADIE BOLTENHOUSE was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and one triple. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was BRIANNA COUSINS, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.

Everything went Zane Trace's way against Chillicothe in their previous meeting back in April of 2023, as Zane Trace made off with a 9-1 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Zane Trace since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
