Basketball Game Preview: Gloucester City Lions vs. Schalick Cougars

A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Gloucester City Lions face off against the Schalick Cougars at 11:30 a.m. on Monday... The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Gloucester City has four straight wins, Schalick has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Last Friday, Gloucester City didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Highland Regional, but they still walked away with a 48-43 victory.

It was another big night for Keegan Cohan, who went 9 of 15 en route to 27 points. Those 27 points gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Marcus Flagg, who posted eight points along with seven assists and five steals.

Meanwhile, Schalick came up short against Lindenwold on Friday and fell 46-34. The match marked the Cougars' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Gloucester City's win was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-0. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.7 points per game. As for Schalick, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-4.

Gloucester City took their victory against Schalick in their previous matchup back in January of 2020 by a conclusive 57-32. Will Gloucester City repeat their success, or does Schalick have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
