Football Recap: Cesar E. Chavez Comes Up Short

Cesar E. Chavez played a tough game on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They took a blow against the Wisdom Generals, falling 44-14. The Lobos were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 20-0.

Despite the loss, Cesar E. Chavez still got an impressive performance from Marquis Miller, who picked up 112 receiving yards and one TD, and also rushed for 30 yards. Miller also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, making three total tackles (0.5 for loss) and defending one pass.

Most of the squad's points came courtesy of special teams, who contributed eight in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Jakwan Williams, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.

Ajani Mayeux produced another solid effort rushing for 182 yards on only 14 carries for Wisdom. The team also got some help courtesy of J'Dynn Lancaster, who rushed for 153 yards on only 11 carries.

This is the second loss in a row for Cesar E. Chavez and nudges their season record down to 2-8. As for Wisdom, the win got them back to even at 5-5.

Cesar E. Chavez does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Wisdom, they are taking a road trip to challenge Memorial at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Generals will need to watch out since the Mustangs have now posted at least 31 points in their last seven matchups.
