Softball Recap: North Fremont Wins Going Away Against Firth

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Bear Lake, North Fremont was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They never let the Firth Cougars get on the board and left with an 18-0 victory. That looming 18-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Huskies yet this season.

Peyton Lenz was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over four innings pitched. She also put up three walks, which were her first of the season. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to hits, as she's now got three or more in each of the last three games she's played.

In other batting news, North Fremont got a massive performance out of Catie Pickard, who scored two runs while going 2-for-2. Another player making a difference was Harlee Cherry, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

North Fremont kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits every time they've taken the field this season.

North Fremont now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Firth, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Looking ahead, North Fremont will be taking part in a tournament against Buhl at 10:00 a.m. on Friday. As for Firth, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Firth Cougars face off against Soda Springs Cardinals at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Their pitchers better be ready for this one: Soda Springs has averaged an impressive 11.2 runs per game this season.
