Recap: Colts Neck Cougars vs. Long Branch Green Wave
The Colts Neck Cougars had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 20.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Long Branch 57-20 at home. The result was nothing new for Colts Neck, who have now won four matches by 27 points or more so far this season.
Chris Scully continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 185 yards and four touchdowns. Scully is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last six games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Dom Beninato, who threw for 115 yards and two touchdowns while completing 71.4% of his passes.
Colts Neck has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a massive bump to their 5-3 record this season. As for Long Branch, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-4.
Colts Neck will look to defend their home field on Saturday against Toms River South at 12:00 p.m. Toms River South will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps New Jersey Rankings (they are ranked 154th, while Colts Neck is ranked 41st). As for Long Branch, they will head out on the road to face off against Jackson Memorial at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Jackson Memorial will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak alive.
