Kingsway hasn't had much luck against Gloucester Catholic recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. Kingsway will be playing in front of their home fans against Gloucester Catholic at 4:00 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Kingsway is headed into the game having just posted their closest victory since April 13, 2024 on Monday. They had just enough and edged out Gloucester County Tech 6-5. The Dragons haven't had any issues with Gloucester County Tech recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
Killian McCaffrey looked comfortable as he tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he gave up only zero walks, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024.
On the hitting side, Brayden Thorp was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two runs. That's the most hits he has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Christian Fanelli, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Gloucester Catholic had already won six in a row dating back to last season (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.2 runs) and they went ahead and made it seven on Monday. They never let the Minutemen get on the board and left with a 6-0 victory.
Sal Marziani made a splash no matter where he played. He tossed 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Marziani was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Noah Danza, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. Guy Lynam was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.
Gloucester Catholic hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Washington Township struck out eight times.
Gloucester Catholic's win was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-0. As for Kingsway, they now have a winning record of 1-0-1.
