Barberton proved they can win big on Friday (they won by six) and on Monday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Roosevelt Rough Riders, sneaking past 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Magics have posted since May 3, 2024.

Cole Macko made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Javon Clayton, who went 1-for-4 with one home run. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season.

Barberton has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Roosevelt, they dropped their record down to 5-6 with the loss, which was their 14th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Barberton will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Rough Riders: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
