Preview: Spring Grove Lions vs. LeRoy-Ostrander Cardinals

Spring Grove has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge the LeRoy-Ostrander Cardinals at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. LeRoy-Ostrander took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Spring Grove, who comes in off a win.

Even though Spring Grove has not done well against the Falcons recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Spring Grove slipped by the Falcons 47-46.

Meanwhile, LeRoy-Ostrander's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight defeat. They fell 53-42 to Schaeffer Academy. LeRoy-Ostrander has struggled against the Lions recently, as their matchup on Tuesday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Despite the loss, LeRoy-Ostrander had strong showings from Miranda Nagel, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 12 rebounds, and Benita Nolt, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds. Nagel hasn't dropped below 12 rebounds for five straight games.

Even though they lost, LeRoy-Ostrander smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. This was only their 13th loss (out of 15 games) when they hit their own glass that hard.

Spring Grove pushed their record up to 17-2 with that victory, which was their ninth straight at home. As for LeRoy-Ostrander, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-17.

Spring Grove strolled past the Cardinals in their previous meeting back in December of 2023 by a score of 70-51. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Nagel, who scored 17 points along with eight rebounds and two blocks.
