Baseball Game Preview: Orcutt Academy Spartans vs. Coast Union Broncos

Orcutt Academy and Coast Union are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2015, but likely not for long. The Spartans will head out on the road to square off against the Broncos at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

As a matter of fact, Orcutt Academy put up the most runs they have all season on Monday. Everything went their way against San Luis Obispo Classical Academy as they made off with a 12-6 victory. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Spartans as it put an end to their six-game losing streak.

The team relied heavily on Joshua Chambers, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Ian Brady also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Meanwhile, it may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Coast Union ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 14-13 victory over San Luis Obispo Classical Academy. The Broncos haven't had any issues with the Grizzlies recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Orcutt Academy's record is now 4-10. As for Coast Union, their record now sits at 6-3.

Orcutt Academy couldn't quite finish off Coast Union when the teams last played back in March and fell 9-7. Can the Spartans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
