Softball Recap: Dunnellon Wins Going Away Against Seven Rivers Christian

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Crystal River, Dunnellon was happy to have turned things around on Friday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Seven Rivers Christian Warriors a 16-0 shutout. That 16 run margin sets a new team best for the Tigers this season.

Kayla Bordelon made a splash while hitting and pitching. She pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-4. Those two runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Olivia Joiner was incredible, going 2-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple. She also put up a double, which was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Addison Rohn, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Dunnellon now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Seven Rivers Christian, they are on a ten-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-9.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. We've got a battle between Tigers coming up. As for Seven Rivers Christian, they will face off against Academy at the Lakes at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Academy at the Lakes is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.4 runs per game this season.
