Baseball Game Preview: Union Titans vs. Kennedy Catholic Lancers

The Union Titans will challenge the Kennedy Catholic Lancers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Union will be strutting in after a victory while Kennedy Catholic will be coming in after a defeat.

Union lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Kelso, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Wednesday's match. Union blew past Kelso 8-1 on Wednesday. The Titans not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 16, 2024.

Rylan Howe looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits.

On the hitting side, Union's win was truly a team effort as seven different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Jacob Chandler, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs.

Union was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .444. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Kelso only posted a batting average of .160.

Meanwhile, Kennedy Catholic fell victim to Puyallup and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Vikings by a score of 1-0. The loss was the Lancers' first of the season.

Harvey Lieberman was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched.

Union's victory ended an eight-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 1-1. As for Kennedy Catholic, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.
