Volleyball Recap: Clovis East Timberwolves vs. Buchanan Bears
After flying high against Central last Tuesday, Clovis East came back down to earth. The Clovis East Timberwolves fell 3-1 to the Buchanan Bears on Thursday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Timberwolves of the 3-2 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture on October 8th.
Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-14, 25-14, 24-26, 25-22.
Despite the defeat, Clovis East had strong showings from Amber Latimer, who had five digs and 17 assists, and Anna Cheatham, who had 14 digs.
Even though they lost, Clovis East kept the net locked down and finished the game with ten blocks. That's the most blocks they've posted since back in September of 2023.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Buchanan to victory, but perhaps none more so than Clara Garcia, who had 21 digs and three aces. Garcia is on a roll when it comes to aces, as she's now served three or more in the last five games she's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kayden Barnes, who had four digs and 25 assists.
Clovis East has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 15-21 record this season. As for Buchanan, their record now sits at 26-11.
As of now, neither Clovis East nor Buchanan have any future games scheduled.
