Baseball Game Preview: South Hadley Tigers vs. Easthampton/Hampshire Eagles

The South Hadley Tigers will head out on the road to challenge the Easthampton/Hampshire Eagles at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

South Hadley fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Smith Vo-Tech on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 13-9 to the Vikings. The Tigers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Easthampton/Hampshire was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They took a 4-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of Hopkins Academy. The game snapped a strange streak: the last four times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.

Christian Do'onfrio put in work while hitting and pitching. He struck out eight batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. Do'onfrio was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

Do'onfrio wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Andrew Symolon, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

South Hadley's record is now 5-5. As for Easthampton/Hampshire, their record now sits at 1-9.

South Hadley couldn't quite finish off Easthampton/Hampshire when the teams last played back in May of 2024 and fell 5-3. Can the Tigers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
