Softball Preview: Castleberry Lions vs. Springtown Porcupines
Castleberry hasn't had much luck against Springtown recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Lions will take on the Porcupines at 7:00 p.m.
Castleberry fell victim to Eagle Mountain and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They came up short against the Knights, falling 10-0. The Lions have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Castleberry saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cassandra Martinez, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.
Meanwhile, Springtown made easy work of Bridgeport on Tuesday and carried off a 10-3 win. The Porcupines might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 contests by seven runs or more this season.
Kylee Spray spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on six hits and racked up 14 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Riley Fagan was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while going 3-for-5. That's the most hits she has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryleigh Morris, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4.
