Baseball Game Preview: Cissna Park Timberwolves vs. Salt Fork Storm

Cissna Park is 0-3 against Salt Fork since April of 2022 but things could change on Monday. The Timberwolves will be playing in front of their home fans against the Storm at 4:30 p.m. Cissna Park will be strutting in after a win while Salt Fork will be coming in after a defeat.

Having struggled with eight losses in a row, Cissna Park turned things around against Georgetown-Ridge Farm/Chrisman on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Buffaloes 7-5. The Timberwolves' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Joah Henrichs was a major factor no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three runs and one double. Those three runs gave him a new career-high.

Henrichs wasn't the only one making solid contact as eight players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Austin Kaeb, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Seth Walder also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Cissna Park kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Salt Fork fell victim to Monticello and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They came up short against the Sages, falling 11-0. The Storm haven't had much luck with the Sages recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Salt Fork's defeat dropped their record down to 10-5. As for Cissna Park, their win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-6 and their overall record up to 2-12.
