Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Patrick County). They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-5 victory over the Dan River Wildcats on Wednesday. The Cougars have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Wildcats, too.

Jackson Horton was excellent, scoring a run while going 1-for-3. That run marked the first that he scored this season. Zach Holt was another key player, scoring three runs.

The win got Patrick County back to even at 2-2. As for Dan River, their loss was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Patrick County will welcome Martinsville at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Dan River, they will face off against Tunstall at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Tunstall will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something Dan River surely won't give up without a fight.
