Game recap: Wayne High School Football Team wins against Fairmont

HUBER HEIGHTS, Ohio - After taking the lead in the fourth quarter, Wayne (Huber Heights, Ohio) held on for a 23-13 victory over Fairmont (Kettering, Ohio) on Saturday. The difference for the Warriors was Collin Belcher kicked a field goal.

The Warriors led 13-10 at halftime, but the Firebirds recaptured the lead on a field goal by Tom West with 3:00 left in the third. Wayne grabbed hold of the lead when Belcher kicked a field goal with 2:00 left in the fourth quarter, and never relinquished it.

West made a difference for Fairmont. The senior quarterback ran for one touchdown and kicked two field goals and one extra point.

Jordan Latimer played well for WHS in the victory. The junior caught one touchdown.

FHS's lone touchdown came on a 1-yard run by West in the first quarter.



The Huber Heights school had given up an average of 12.5 points prior to the contest.

The Warriors also won the meeting between the two teams last season, 52-42.

Wayne (7-2) goes up against Northmont in a Greater Western Ohio - Central game matchup next week, while Fairmont (2-7) locks horns with Beavercreek also in a Greater Western Ohio - Central game.
