Baseball Game Preview: Mira Monte Lions vs. Golden Valley Bulldogs

The Mira Monte Lions will face off against the Golden Valley Bulldogs at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Mira Monte has now lost eight straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since March 1.

Mira Monte came up short against Foothill on Thursday, falling 12-5.

Mira Monte saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hudson Weatherly, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Weatherly is becoming a predictor of the Lions' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 0-8 when he doesn't). Another was Ethan Velasquez, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Golden Valley earned a 9-6 win over Del Oro on Thursday. The victory continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their matchups with the Suns: they've now won five in a row.

Cristian Torres was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single hit and allowing only one earned run while striking out 16 over 5.1 innings pitched. Those 16 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing three bases while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Andrew Gonzalez was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 3-for-3. He also put up a double, which was his first of the season. Eathan Allen was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3.

The win was their first at home , bumping their record up to 3-8-1. As for Mira Monte, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-9.
