Basketball Recap: Hearne Extends Winning Streak to Seven

Hearne waltzed into their match on Friday with six straight wins... but they left with seven. They claimed a resounding 86-46 victory over the Iola Bulldogs. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 13 contests by 21 points or more this season.

Leading Hearne to victory were Kellen Bowser and Cristian Robinson. Bowser dropped a triple-double on 18 points, 14 rebounds, and ten assists, while Robinson went 8 for 20 on his way to 25 points and six steals. The dominant performance gave Bowser a new career-high in boards. Dereion Mitchell was another key player, going 8 of 18 en route to 16 points.

Hearne smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in 14 consecutive games.

Hearne's win was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 22-4. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.4 points per game. As for Iola, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-13 record this season.

Coincidentally, Hearne and Iola will both be playing Bremond the next time they take the court. Hearne will host Bremond at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while Iola will host them at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
