Baseball Recap: Labette County Comes Up Short

Labette County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They took a 10-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Girard Trojans. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Trojans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 16-3 last Tuesday.

Kegan Bates was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Colton Ghering, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Labette County's defeat dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Girard, their win bumped their record up to 14-2-1.

Labette County has already played their next game, a 5-3 victory against Fort Scott on the 24th. As for Girard, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 17-1 win against Parsons on the 24th.
