Baseball Recap: Milpitas Gets the Win

Milpitas won the last time they faced Lynbrook and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Trojans walked away with an 8-5 victory over the Vikings. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Trojans.

Austin Orolfo Jr. made a splash while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in February.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ian Ostrander, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. He is becoming a predictor of Milpitas' success: when he posts at least three RBI the team is undefeated (and 2-7 when he doesn't). Danny Alfaro was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.

Milpitas kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.3 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 9.8.

Milpitas' record now sits at 5-7. As for Lynbrook, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-10.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Milpitas will venture away from home to face off against Fremont at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Lynbrook, they will head out to take on MacDonald at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Condor have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 14.6 runs per game on average), something the Vikings will no doubt try to take advantage of.
