Softball Recap: Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted Takes a Loss

Rockford hit Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted with a four-run second inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Lakers fell just short of the Rockets by a score of 6-5. If the Lakers were looking for revenge after losing 11-1 to the Rockets when the teams met back in May of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aubrey Barnes, who went 1-for-4 with one home run. That home run was Barnes' first of the season.

This is the second loss in a row for Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted and nudges their season record down to 4-3. Even worse, they were so close both times: the losses came by an average of only 1.5 runs. As for Rockford, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-1.
