Softball Recap: Stone Memorial Takes a Loss

Stone Memorial had lost three straight on the road, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 15-5 to make it four. They fell just short of the DeKalb County Tigers by a score of 2-1. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Kenzie Jackson was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 13 over 12.1 innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two doubles.

Jackson wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Cadence Cox, who went 1-for-4 with one RBI.

As for DeKalb County, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games.

On DeKalb County's side, the result came thanks to Kora Kilgore's shutout, as she gave up just five hits and racked up 16 Ks.

As of now, neither Stone Memorial nor the Tigers have any future games scheduled.
