Volleyball Recap: Fairfield Union Comes Up Short

Fairfield Union was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Lakewood Lancers. The Falcons were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Lancers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in August of 2024.

Fairfield Union actually scored more points across those five sets (100-92), but sadly they still had to settle for second. The final score came out to 9-25, 25-19, 25-19, 18-25, 15-12.

Molly Brown paced Fairfield Union's offense, picking up 25 kills. Brown got some help from Laynie Price and her 41 assists. Brooklynn Ash controlled things from the service line, finishing with five aces.

Fairfield Union's loss dropped their record down to 3-13. As for Lakewood, their win ended a seven-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 5-11.

Fairfield Union has already played their next contest, a 3-2 defeat against Hamilton Township on the 23rd. As for Lakewood, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-0 loss against Heath on the 23rd.
