Softball Preview: Texas City Stingarees vs. HCYA
The Texas City Stingarees will face off against HCYA at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
Texas City took a loss when they played away from home last Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They skirted past Iowa Colony 4-3.
Harley Garza spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on 12 hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Trinitey Spencer was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while going 1-for-3. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in stolen bases. Paryce Jackson also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
Meanwhile, HCYA unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak last Monday. They and St. John's finished up their matchup with a 7-7 draw.
Texas City's win bumped their record up to 10-5-1. HCYA's tie gives them a new season record of 17-5-3.
Texas City came out on top in a nail-biter against HCYA in their previous meeting back in February of 2020, sneaking past 5-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for Texas City since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
