Basketball Recap: Pocomoke Comes Up Short

Pocomoke lost to Bennett back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Warriors had to suffer through a 66-17 loss at the hands of the Clippers. The Warriors were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 40-11.

Several Warriors players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Hailey Laine, who posted six points and five steals. Laine is becoming a predictor of Pocomoke's success: when she posts at least three steals the team is 2-1 (and 3-12 when she doesn't).

Pocomoke has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-13 record this season. As for Bennett, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-3-2.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Pocomoke will face off against rival Parkside at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Bennett is set to take on their familiar foe Decatur at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
