Football Recap: Lafayette County Takes a Loss

Lafayette County lost against De Queen back in September of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Cougars had to suffer through a 49-18 loss at the hands of the Leopards. The Cougars were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 28-6.

Despite the loss, Lafayette County still got an impressive performance from Jordan Walters, who rushed for 223 yards and a pair of scores while picking up 13.9 yards per carry. Walters' rushing production has been exceptional as that marked his fifth straight game with at least 109 rushing yards dating back to last season.

This is the second loss in a row for Lafayette County and nudges their season record down to 0-2. As for De Queen, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-1.

Coming up, Lafayette County will face off against Varsity Opponent at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for De Queen, they will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Hope at 7:00 p.m. on the 26th.
