Basketball Recap: Bridges Prep Takes a Loss

Bridges Prep was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They were beaten by the John Paul II Golden Warrriors 62-26. While losing is never fun, the Buccaneers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 194th, while the Golden Warrriors are ranked 46th).

Despite the loss, Bridges Prep still got an impressive performance from Alaysia Neal, who went 5 for 11 on her way to 10 points and seven steals. Neal is trending in the right direction considering she's improved her point production for three straight games. Makayla Lapp was another key player, putting up 12 points.

John Paul II got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Savannah Trott out in front who posted 13 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Lauren Majorkiewicz, who had six points and six steals.

Bridges Prep's defeat dropped their record down to 0-6. As for John Paul II, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-1.

Bridges Prep will head out to take on Lowcountry Leadership at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for John Paul II, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against May River at 3:30 p.m. on December 26th.
